Big thanks to gregador for first making me aware of Erie Ale Works. According to their Facebook page:
We’re a brewery in planning located in Erie, PA. We build unique beer that is easily drinkable, supporting the local community through future events and partnerships.
Their official website has a blog, contact information, and soon will have a description of the beers and a store. They also have an official Twitter you can connect with.
With Kickstarter, the two guys behind Erie Ale Works hope to “move out of the garage” with their production (actually, they already have, but are being kindly let to use Lavery Brewing Co.’s facilities temporarily). They are hoping to raise $8,000 before the deadline set at October 21st, 2012 - and while they are at over $1,000 now, they have a long way to go. And how Kickstarter works: it’s all or nothing, dependent on meeting the $8,000 goal.
While I haven’t tasted their beer yet, every business homegrown in Erie is good business. So, head on over to their Kickstarter page, watch their video, read their blurb, and if you love Erie, if you love good beer, donate some. Every dollar counts. Plus, for supporting them, you’ll get some rad gifts.
I didn’t realize they had started their Kickstarter campaign (most likely because I refuse to use Facebook), but the moment I learned of the Ale Works I planned on helping out. You should too!
